Now it's time let's learn the string names. The silly, but effective way to remember the string names is with the story of Eddie.

Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye Eddy. So that means our string names are E, A, D, G, B and E. But you don't have to memorize that right now. Just remember the story and we'll come back to it along the way. Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye Eddy.

Sometimes, these strings are also referred to with numbers where 1 is the E-string that's closest to the floor and then it goes 2 3 4 5 6 as you go towards the ceiling. Keep in mind that we call it the high E-string even though it's closer to the floor. That's because the pitch gets higher, the closer you get to the floor. If you try to sing the notes you'll feel what I mean.
