Perry used mostly classic rock licks and tricks, the pentatonic minor & major scales mixed with the blues scale & mixolydian mode for the chromaticism. But his unique approach to these standard patterns was a slippery, slithery sound that resulted from using slides, string jumping, open strings, “lazy” quarter step bends & massive over bending.
