Early Rock 'n' Roll
Rock and roll started out as a rowdy combination of many different elements of distinctly American music. Artists like Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley found new and exciting ways to mix blues, country, jazz and boogie woogie into a new style that would become known as rock 'n' roll.
Christopher will show you how to play the solo classical guitar piece 'Andante' Op. 241 No. 18 by Ferdinando Carulli. This is a beginner level classical guitar piece that focuses on developing picking hand technique along with open chord voicings and scale harmonization.
In this tutorial we'll learn a classic bluesy diad riff that's a solid part of every blues player's vocabulary. We'll break the riff down step by step and learn to apply it to a 12 bar blues form with some rhythmic and phrasing variations to get more mileage out of it. Finally we'll play it along with backing tracks at two different tempos to get a lot of practice at applying the riff.
